Back to the drawing board for Earls Court developer

Construction News Capco, the developer responsible for developing thousands of new homes at Earls Court in London, has had to rethink their Masterplan.  The firm who is working with Hammersmith and Fulham council, is raising the number of proposed homes by 2,500 to 10,000 in total.  Capco received planning permission for 7,500 houses across four new residential districts in West London nearly four years ago. They have had to rethink their scheme due to local criticism that the affordable housing provision was insufficient on the massive 77-acre site. As well as new housing, the Masterplan includes offices, leisure, hotel and retail space as well as a new primary school, library, an integrated health centre and a 5-acre public park.  The plan involved the demolition of the West Kensginton and Gibbs Green housing estates which the council has now said that it wants to take back into its control.
