Balfour Beatty predicts worker-free sites by 2050

Posted in: CMT Group Blog
Construction News Balfour Beatty predicts that many construction sites will be largely worker free by 2050 as offsite construction and new digital technology starts to transform the industry. They believe that the few humans left on-site will be aided by advanced exoskeletons. Whilst it may seem far-fetched today, Balfour Beatty believes that construction is entering a new age of technology. They consider that work will be moved off-site, that machinery will be controlled remotely and that new materials and techniques will drive costs, safety and efficiency improvements.
