Detailed plans submitted for £1.4bn Brent Cross scheme

Construction News A joint venture company between Hammerson and Standard Life Investments, have submitted detailed drawings for the redevelopment of the iconic Brent Cross Shopping Centre in London. The JV plan to double the size of the current Brent Cross shopping centre to 2m sq ft.  If planning is approved, preliminary work could start as soon as summer 2018.  It is envisaged that an estimated 5,000 construction jobs will be created. The project will be designed by architects Callison RTKL and Chapman Taylor.  The plans involve refurbishing and extending the shopping centre to more than 200 new shops and stores, 60 new restaurants, a cinema complex and hotel accommodation.
