Network Rail’s most used-contractor
Costain has seen its total spend rise 60% from £337m to £541m in 2016/17 and has sealed its place to become Network Rail’s most-used contractor after topping the infrastructure group’s spend rankings for the second year in a row. Costain’s haul represented more than 7% of the £7.36bn Network Rail has invested in improving the country’s rail network during 2016/17.
Carillion Construction, which landed £372m worth of work, has retained its second place ranking whilst Siemens Rail Automation is in third place having secured £291m worth of work.
