JB Riney, a business that offers expertise in a number of specialisms such as highways maintenance, civil engineering, surfacing, street lighting, winter maintenance and utilities infrastructure, has been bought out by Tarmac in an attempt to boost its presence in the London highways market.

It is understood that Tarmac is keen to break into the maintenance market in the South-East and since Riney has a string of existing contracts in the region, which includes Tower Hamlets, Greenwich and Waltham Forest, purchasing the firm seemed an obvious choice.

Riney will continue to operate under its old name but will form part of the Highways Service division within Tarmac.
