What is AdBlue?

AdBlue is a mixture of urea and deionized water injected into the exhaust system of vehicles with a selective catalytic reduction converter in precise doses, slashing harmful emissions known as NOx emissions by up to 80%. Not only does this keep the environment clean, but it also ensures your vehicle meets Euro 6 emission standards.

What happens if I don't use AdBlue?

If your vehicle is SCR-equipped and it runs out of AdBlue, it will not start.

In most if not all vehicles, a warning message should appear when you are running low.

How do I refill my AdBlue?

Consult the instructions on the bottle and your vehicle handbook for specific guidance but in most cases, the AdBlue filler can be found next to the fuel filler nozzle, however, it may also be found in the spare wheel well or on either side of the boot.

  1. Open the filler cap, this can usually be done by hand but some vehicles require a wheel brace to release the filler cap.
  2. Screw the refill bottle connector on and allow the AdBlue to drain into the tank. Your vehicle may require a minimum amount so please consult the handbook.

Note:

  • Although non-toxic, AdBlue is corrosive and can cause irritation to the skin, eyes and lungs so it is advisable to handle it with care and wear gloves.
  • If when refilling, AdBlue comes in contact with the paintwork of your vehicle, rise the area with water.
