Environmental Policy

Environmental Statement

CMT Group are fully committed to protecting the environment and recognise the need for sustainability. CMT Group continually aims to improve the environmental effect of its activities and the products which it sells.

To achieve this, we will establish sound environmental management by:

  • Meeting or going above to achieve relevant legislative, regulatory and environmental codes of practice
  • Being fully committed to preventing pollution arising from our work activities. We will actively reduce it wherever possible and encourage our suppliers and clients to do so too
  • Developing objectives that target environmental improvements and monitoring performance through regular review
  • Considering environmental issues as part of the decision-making process
  • Developing relationships with suppliers and contractors so that environmental responsibilities are understood and shared
  • Educating staff so that they carry out their activities in an environmentally responsible manner
  • Promoting waste minimisation by recycling or finding other uses for by-products whenever economically viable. This includes donation or reuse of items within other areas of the business
  • Promoting the efficient use of resources, energy and fuel throughout the organisation’s operations
  • Cooperating with the communities in which we operate and reducing our environmental impact on those who may be directly affected by our operations
  • Cooperating with government, regulatory bodies and other interested parties with the shared vision of being a good and trusted neighbour
  • Ensuring environmental issues are reported, rectified, investigated and that lessons learnt are implemented. Relevant governing bodies will be notified at the earliest possible opportunity
  • Aiming to eliminate the use of single use packaging within the business as far as reasonably practicable

Our Commitment

CMT is committed to reaching net zero carbon emissions by 2030. To support this, we will:

  • Reduce fuel use by moving to electric vehicles and forklifts
  • Cut unnecessary business travel and promote remote meetings
  • Work with suppliers to lower emissions across our value chain
  • Improve how we collect and track carbon data each year
  • Use certified UK-based carbon offset schemes only where needed
