Murphy snaps up Carillion’s UK power business

Construction News The Civil Engineering firm, J Murphy & Son, have acquired Carillion’s UK power framework business for an undisclosed sum.  Murphy will take over Carillion's position on National Grid’s electric overhead lines, substation and underground cable framework contracts. In addition, Murphy will replace Carillion as joint venture partner of power line specialist Eltel on the new overhead line and T Pylon framework.  This agreement is said to have a potential value of £500m over five years. Around 22 Carillion staff will transfer over to Murphy. I’m pleased to be able to work with our new partners Eltel to continue supporting National Grid and deliver essential energy infrastructure.”
