Developers, Buckland Development Limited, have submitted an outline planning application for a 6,000 new home community scheme in Welborne, just north of Fareham in Hampshire. The scheme will create a village and district centre with retail, commercial and employment uses, plus primary and secondary schools, healthcare facilities and green infrastructure with sports pitches, public open spaces, parks and woodland.
The scheme would deliver major infrastructure improvements for the area, including upgrade works to the A32, new distributor roads within the development and improvements to the M27 motorway.
Work on site could begin as early as the second half of 2018. The new town is due to be completed by 2038 with an eventual population of 15,000 people.
