Plant nappies, used as an alternative to drip trays are used as secondary contaminant catchment trays and sit underneath plant or machinery. The design of the plant nappy allows for the flow of fallen water through the sides of the plant nappy whilst retaining and absorbing oil and stopping it entering the surrounding environment.
Whilst the sides of the tray allow for water to escape, the base is a non-permeable fabric with a permeable top layer into which any contaminants are absorbed. Dependant on the size of the plant nappy used, they are able to absorb up to 16 litres of oil and can even be used on uneven surfaces (with no negative impact on their effectiveness).
To make plant nappies even more effective, purchasing a liner that can be easily be removed and squeezed free of oil is ideal.
