Skanska UK is the first UK contractor to trial hi-tech hard hats on its sites. The DAQRI Smart Helmet, that looks like a cross between google-glass technology and a hard hat, provides users with data and information overlaid on their goggles. The helmet is being billed as “the world’s first wearable machine interface”. The helmet allows for remote access by allowing an individual to connect to the helmet remotely and seeing through the eyes of the user. It will enable them to talk, receive instructions and agree on the course of action. In addition, the helmets provide thermal vision, guided work instructions and 3D reconstruction of buildings.
