Unlike fixed-strap goggles, the Matterhorn incorporates pivoting tilt hinges that allow the strap to adjust naturally to the angle of the wearer’s head. This mechanical adjustability reduces pressure points and helps maintain a consistent seal, particularly when worn with hard hats or other head protection.
The panoramic Optical Class 1 polycarbonate lens delivers unrestricted vision, supporting awareness on busy sites. Indirect ventilation works in conjunction with the permanent anti-mist coating to manage heat and moisture build-up during physically demanding tasks.
Rated EN166 3 4 5 BTKN, the goggle provides protection against liquid droplets, dust particles and medium-energy impacts at extreme temperatures. Suitability for specific chemical exposure must always be confirmed through site risk assessment.
✓ Pivoting tilt hinges help eliminate gaps between face and lens
✓ Wide field of vision supports site awareness
✓ Indirect venting assists airflow while limiting particle ingress
✓ Flexible PVC face seal enhances comfort during long shifts
✓ UV filter protection suitable for mixed indoor and outdoor use
✓ Supplied with recycled polyester pouch and recycled paper packaging

Usage Guide:
Before Use
- Inspect goggles for cracks, scratches or damage to the lens, seal, hinge mechanism or headband. Do not use damaged goggles.
- Adjust the tilt-hinge to match the angle between your face and the hard hat brim or other head-mounted PPE. The soft seal should contact the face evenly around the entire perimeter without gaps.
- Adjust the headband for snug but comfortable tension. The quick-release buckle should be secure but accessible for rapid removal if required.
- Clean the lens with a soft cloth before use. Do not use abrasive materials or solvents that may damage the coatings.
- If wearing prescription spectacles, test fit before deployment as the Matterhorn has less internal depth than over-spec designs.
During Use
- Ensure goggles remain properly positioned throughout work activities. Re-adjust the tilt-hinge if gaps appear when changing head position or PPE configuration.
- Check that indirect vents are not blocked by contamination or debris if fogging occurs despite the anti-fog coating. Clean vents away from hazardous areas.
- Do not remove goggles to wipe the lens while in a hazardous area. Withdraw to a safe location first.
- Replace immediately if struck by significant impact, even without visible damage. Internal stress fractures may compromise protection.
After Use / Maintenance
- Clean lenses with lukewarm water and a soft cloth after each use. Rinse before wiping to prevent abrasive particle scratching.
- Do not use solvents, strong detergents or abrasive cleaners that may degrade the anti-fog or anti-scratch coatings.
- Check hinge mechanism for smooth operation and secure attachment. Replace if hinge becomes loose or stiff.
- Allow goggles to air dry fully before storing in the supplied pouch to prevent moisture accumulation.
- Store in a clean, dry location away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Inspect regularly for coating degradation, seal hardening or hinge wear. Replace if protection performance declines.
What makes the Matterhorn different from standard goggles?
The tilt-hinge strap system allows the headband to pivot, improving facial contact and reducing gaps between the lens and the face.
Are these helmet-compatible?
Yes. The pivoting hinges are specifically designed to improve compatibility with hard hats and other head or ear protection.
What does EN166 3 4 5 BTKN mean?
3 = protection against liquid droplets
4 = protection against large dust particles
5 = protection against fine particles (as marked)
B = medium energy impact resistance
T = tested at extreme temperatures
K = anti-scratch coating
N = anti-mist coating
Can they be worn all day?
Yes. The Optical Class 1 lens supports continuous wear.
Are they suitable for chemical splash?
They provide droplet protection. Always verify suitability through site COSHH assessment.
Why buy safety goggles from CMT Group?
CMT Group stocks the full armourU safety goggle range including both the Weisshorn (standard vented) and Matterhorn (tilt-hinge helmet-compatible) models, which means you can specify the correct goggle for the application rather than forcing one type across all environments. We supply bulk orders with volume pricing and hold sufficient UK stock for same-day dispatch on urgent PPE requirements when site supplies run out unexpectedly.
Our EDGE portal allows you to set approval workflows for PPE orders, so site managers can requisition goggles without waiting for head office purchase orders, while you maintain budget control and spending visibility. All safety eyewear is supplied with full EN166 certification documentation and technical datasheets for CDM 2015 H&S files. Additionally, our trade desk understands the difference between rating 4 and rating 5 dust protection, B-rated and F-rated impact specifications, and when indirect vents are suitable versus sealed designs, so you receive specification support rather than just order-taking. For sites requiring branded PPE, our in-house manufacturing can supply armourU goggles with your company logo in 2-3 working days.
