The armourU Weisshorn Safety Goggles solve the two main reasons safety goggles get removed on site: fogging and scratched lenses. The permanent N-rated anti-fog coating and indirect vents maintain clear vision during physical work and temperature changes without compromising splash protection. Meanwhile, the K-rated anti-scratch coating on both lens surfaces survives months of construction dust and rough handling rather than weeks.

The panoramic Optical Class 1 lens provides lateral vision that smaller goggles cannot match, which is critical for situational awareness around machinery and co-workers. At 86 grams with a soft TPE face seal, they are comfortable enough for all-day wear without pressure points or voluntary removal during unsupervised periods.

Additionally, the metal-free construction makes these suitable for electrical work without conductivity hazards. EN166 certification covers liquid splashes (rating 3), large dust particles (rating 4) and medium-energy impacts at 120 m/s (rating B), so they are suitable for grinding, drilling and chemical handling where multiple hazard types coexist. However, they are not suitable for high-velocity impacts requiring face shields or gas/vapour protection requiring sealed goggles.

Wide field of vision supports situational awareness in active work zones
✓ Indirect ventilation channels airflow while limiting direct particle entry
✓ Flexible TPE inner seal improves comfort during extended wear
Clear UV filter lens suitable for both indoor and outdoor use
✓ Adjustable strap distributes pressure evenly across the head
Supplied with recycled polyester pouch and recycled paper packaging

Usage Guide:

During Use

  • Ensure goggles remain properly positioned throughout work activities. Adjust headband tension if slippage occurs during head movement or perspiration.
  • If fogging occurs despite anti-fog coating, check that indirect vents are not blocked by contamination or debris. Remove goggles safely away from hazards, clean vents, and allow equilibration before redeployment.
  • Do not remove goggles to wipe the lens while in a hazardous area. Withdraw to a safe location first.
  • If the lens becomes heavily contaminated with liquids or dust, clean immediately to maintain clear vision rather than continuing with impaired sight.
  • Replace goggles immediately if struck by significant impact, even if no visible damage is apparent. Internal stress fractures may compromise protection performance.

After Use / Maintenance

  • Clean lenses with lukewarm water and a soft cloth after each use. Rinse first to remove abrasive particles before wiping to prevent scratching.
  • Do not use solvents, strong detergents or abrasive cleaners that may degrade the anti-fog or anti-scratch coatings.
  • Allow goggles to air dry fully before storing in the supplied pouch to prevent moisture accumulation and mould growth.
  • Store in a clean, dry location away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. UV exposure can degrade polycarbonate over time.
  • Inspect regularly for coating degradation, seal hardening or frame cracks. Replace if anti-fog performance declines noticeably, if scratches impair vision, or if the seal no longer creates a liquid-tight fit.
  • Typical service life depends on usage intensity and maintenance quality. For continuous professional use in abrasive environments, annual replacement is recommended.

What does EN166 3 4 5 mean?

3 indicates protection against liquid droplets. 4 indicates protection against large dust particles. 5 indicates protection against fine particles as marked.

What does BTKN signify?

B = Medium energy impact resistance. T = Tested at extreme temperatures. K = Resistance to surface damage (anti-scratch). N = Resistance to misting (anti-fog).

Are these fully sealed chemical goggles?

They are indirect vented. Chemical suitability must be assessed against site COSHH controls.

Can they be worn for extended periods?

Yes. The Optical Class 1 lens supports continuous wear.

Are they compatible with other PPE?

They are designed for integration with hard hats and many respirators, but fit testing should be carried out on site.

Do these actually stay fog-free?

Yes. The N-rated anti-fog coating is permanent and certified to EN166 standards. The indirect vents allow airflow while blocking splashes. They stay clear during physical work, humidity and temperature changes. Brief condensation may occur in extreme conditions (moving between -5°C and +25°C repeatedly), but it clears quickly.

How long before the anti-scratch coating wears off?

The K-rated coating passes EN166 abrasion testing and survives months of professional site use. It resists construction dust, metal filings and repeated wiping. Cheaper goggles lose clarity within weeks. Eventually scratches will accumulate, but the coating significantly extends service life.

Can I wear these over my prescription glasses?

Yes, they fit over most prescription spectacle frames. The panoramic design and soft TPE seal accommodate the additional depth. Test fit before bulk purchase, as frame styles vary.

Are these suitable for grinding and cutting operations?

Yes. The EN166 B-rating covers angle grinding, drilling, chipping and most construction tool operations (medium-energy impacts at 120 m/s). Not suitable for high-velocity impacts like cartridge-actuated tools, which require full face shields.

What does "metal-free" actually mean for electrical work?

No metal anywhere in the frame, lens mounting or headband. Fully dielectric. If you contact a live conductor, the goggles will not create a conductive path to your face. Standard safety glasses with metal screws or nose bridges fail this requirement.

How do indirect vents stop splashes if there are holes?

The vents are baffled channels, not straight-through holes. Airflow enters and exits while liquids cannot take a direct path to the eye. This prevents fogging while maintaining EN166 rating 3 splash protection.
