How to use

Step 1: Switch off the mains socket before connecting. Insert the 13A plug fully and switch on.

Step 2: Before connecting devices, add the wattage of all items to be powered simultaneously. The combined total across all six sockets must not exceed 13A (3,120W at 240V).

Step 3: Lay the cable out fully before use. Do not operate with the cable coiled or bundled.

Step 4: Keep the lead in dry indoor conditions only. This product has no IP rating and must not be used in damp, wet, or outdoor environments.

Step 5: Switch off at the mains socket when not in use.

Common mistakes

• Overloading across six sockets: six sockets sharing one 13A fuse means the combined wattage of all six devices must stay within 3,120W. Six moderate devices can easily approach this limit, add the wattage of everything before connecting.

• Using outdoors or in damp conditions: this lead carries no IP rating. It must be used in dry indoor environments only. For workshop or covered outdoor use, select an IP44-rated lead from the CMT range.

• Daisy-chaining to get more sockets: connecting a second extension lead into this one is not permitted under IET Wiring Regulations. If six sockets are not sufficient, consult an electrician about additional fixed socket outlets.

• Running the cable under a mat or carpet: a covered cable cannot ventilate during use. Keep the full cable length clear of floor coverings and obstructions.

• Operating with the cable coiled: always extend the cable fully before use. A coiled cable under load generates heat it cannot dissipate.

This extension lead is rated for a maximum total load of 13A (3,120W at 240V) across all six sockets. It is designed for dry indoor use only and carries no IP rating. Do not use in outdoor, damp, or wet environments. Do not daisy-chain into another extension lead. Always fully extend the cable before use. Do not run under carpets, mats, or floor coverings. Replace the plug fuse only with a 13A rated fuse. BS1363/A compliant and RoHS compliant.

Maintenance

Inspect the cable, plug, and all six socket faces before each use. Remove from service if the cable is damaged, the plug casing is cracked, or any socket face is deformed or damaged. Keep socket faces free from debris. Wipe with a dry cloth only. Do not use water, solvents, or abrasive cleaners on any part of the lead. Store loosely coiled in a dry location when not in use.
