Multi Purpose Diamond Blade – Professional – Self Cooling – OTEC VB5 is developed for professional use on UK construction and infrastructure sites where metal cutting is a primary requirement alongside general construction materials.
It is intended for contractors and site operatives cutting ductile iron pipe, cast iron, exposed steel sections, rebar, fibreglass and plastic pipe. The blade also performs on selected concrete and general purpose materials where mixed cutting conditions are encountered.
The VB5 is not suitable for asphalt or highly abrasive materials. It should not be specified for asphalt, green concrete, render, cement screed or abrasive concrete products, and should be used within its intended metal-led application range.
For these materials we would recommend a blade more specific to those materials. Browse our OTEC diamond blades category.

Before use:
Ensure the blade specification is suitable for the material being cut. Inspect the blade for cracking, segment detachment, undercutting of the steel core, uneven wear, or other defects. Confirm the rotation direction matches the arrow on the blade and that the bore size matches the machine spindle. Wear appropriate PPE and ensure all machine guards are correctly fitted.
During use:
Do not apply excessive force. Allow the blade to cut at its designed speed and take regular cooling breaks. If overheating occurs, reassess material suitability. Ensure the material being cut is securely positioned and regularly inspect the blade for signs of damage.
Wet cutting:
If wet cutting is used, ensure a continuous and adequate water supply is applied to both sides of the blade.
Is the VB5 suitable for cutting metal?
Yes. The VB5 is optimised for cutting ductile iron pipe, cast iron, exposed steel, rebar, fibreglass and plastic pipe.
Can this blade cut concrete?
It can cut selected concrete and general purpose materials, but it is primarily designed for metal applications.
Is the VB5 suitable for asphalt cutting?
No. It is not intended for asphalt or highly abrasive materials.
What does “self cooling” mean?
The self cooling core design helps manage heat build-up during continuous cutting, supporting safer and more stable blade performance.
Is this blade compliant for UK construction sites?
Yes. The VB5 is manufactured in accordance with EN13236.
