Who Is This For
The NLG MEWP Bag is used by electricians, maintenance engineers, telecoms engineers, and MEWP operatives who work from scissor lifts, cherry pickers, and boom lifts and need tools organised, tethered, and accessible without carrying them on their person. It suits both individual operatives and shared-platform teams on multi-person MEWPs, where keeping the platform deck clear of loose tools is a safety and compliance requirement. It is equally suited to scaffold bays where trades prefer a rail-mounted bag over a belt-worn alternative.

How to Use
Step 1: Open all three TriLock mounting straps on the rear panel by peeling open the Velcro bands.
Step 2: Starting with the innermost band, wrap all three Velcro bands around the upper rail of the platform. Ensure each band is embedded securely before proceeding to the next. Check the bag is firmly attached after all three straps are closed.
Step 3: Attach the three stabilisation loops on the bottom rear of the bag to the mid rail by passing each loop around the rail and connecting back to itself. This prevents the bag from tilting under load or during platform movement.
Step 4: Load tools and equipment into the main compartment pockets. Secure every tool via a tool lanyard to an internal D-ring anchor point. Confirm no single tool exceeds 5kg on any individual anchor.
Step 5: Check all four external pockets are free of loose items before the platform ascends or descends.
Step 6: Scan the NLG ID tag to log the pre-use inspection against the unique serial number before beginning work.
Tip: An NLG Aero Pouch can be attached to the two external webbing loops on the side of the bag, providing a self-closing valve fixings station alongside the main tool storage.
Common Mistakes

Leaving loose items in external pockets during ascent or descent: external pockets are open sleeves, not enclosed compartments. Any loose contents will fall during platform movement. All loose items must be removed or secured before the platform moves.

Skipping the mid-rail stabilisation loops: attaching only the upper TriLock straps leaves the bag free to tilt forward under load. All three stabilisation loops must be attached to the mid rail before use.

Attaching a tool exceeding 5kg to one anchor: each internal D-ring is rated to 5kg individually. Tools above this weight must be tethered via a separate rated system.

Attaching to a non-approved rail: the TriLock system must only be fixed to rails rated to carry the combined bag and tool load. Confirm rail approval with the MEWP manufacturer or scaffold supervisor before attaching.

Skipping post-drop inspection: quarantine the bag immediately following any drop event and complete the NLG Inspection Checklist before returning to service.
Safety
The MEWP Bag is certified to ANSI/ISEA 121-2023 and carries CE and UKCA marking, dynamically load tested at a 2:1 safety factor. Max load is 30kg across the whole bag and 5kg per individual anchor point. No single tool must exceed 5kg. All tools must be secured via a tool lanyard to a D-ring before the platform moves. External pockets must be free of loose items during ascent and descent. Only attach to rails rated for the intended load. Comply with the Working at Height Regulations 2005, LOLER 1998, and PUWER 1998 for all MEWP operations.
Maintenance
Inspect the TriLock Velcro straps for adhesion, the stabilisation loops for wear and elasticity, all internal D-ring anchor points for deformation or stitching damage, the PVC body for cuts or punctures, and the drain vents for blockages before each use. Wipe down the PVC exterior with a damp cloth after contaminated environments. Clear any debris from Velcro surfaces that would prevent full engagement. Log all inspections against the unique serial number via NLG ID. Retire from service immediately if any anchor, strap, or structural component shows visible damage.
