How to Use

Step 1: Fit Small D-Rings, Large D-Rings, Tether Tape, or the Single Arm Tether Choke to each tool requiring a tool-side attachment point, matching size and method to the tool.

Step 2: Select the appropriate lanyard for each tool based on weight: Mini Coil for the lightest tools, standard Coil or Bungee for mid-weight tools, and Heavy Duty Bungee for heavier items.

Step 3: Use the Tether Loops (120mm) as compact connection points where a shorter, low-bulk loop is preferred over a longer lanyard.

Step 4: Store loose tools and small parts in the Ascent Pouch throughout the task.

Step 5: Confirm a separate, certified anchor point on the harness or rope system before beginning work, as this kit focuses on tool-side attachment and lanyards rather than harness anchor points.

Step 6: Log inspection of each NLG ID enabled component before first use and at each subsequent formal inspection interval.

Common Mistakes

• Using a mini or lightweight component on a tool exceeding its rating: the mini variants in this kit are designed for lighter tools specifically. Check the individual load rating on each component before use.

• Skipping the anchor point step: this kit provides tool-side attachments and lanyards; a separate, certified anchor point on the harness or rope system is required to complete a compliant system.

• Not matching lanyard type to tool weight: with multiple lanyard types included, select based on the actual tool weight rather than habit or convenience.

• Skipping pre-use inspection on individual components: each of the 11 products must be inspected according to its own product datasheet before use, not just at kit unboxing.

Safety

Each component within this kit carries its own individual load rating and safety standard, detailed on that product's own datasheet. There is no single kit-level load rating. IRATA Topic Sheet No. 31 sets out selection criteria for tool tethering in rope access work, covering load rating, tether length, and material; always select and match components to the tool in line with that guidance. This kit does not include personal fall arrest, restraint, or rope access anchor equipment. Comply with relevant IRATA or equivalent rope access standards and the Work at Height Regulations 2005.

Maintenance

Inspect each individual component according to its own product-specific maintenance guidance before each use. Clean surface dirt with a water-dampened cloth, using a mild soap or detergent solution for more thorough cleaning. Wipe with a clean cloth and hang to dry away from excessive heat, steam, or sunlight. Complete a formal inspection using the NLG Inspection Checklist at intervals appropriate to frequency of use, recording pass or fail status for webbing and cord, stitching, hardware, labels, and base fabric on each applicable component.
