Who is this for

How to use

Step 1: Inspect the lanyard before every use. Check the webbing for cuts, fraying, or damage to the contrast stitching. Check both Quick Clip connectors for deformation, corrosion, or failure to lock. Retire the lanyard immediately if any defect is found.

Step 2: Confirm both attachment points carry an appropriate load rating: the operative's anchor (harness D-ring, belt loop, or wrist band) and the tool's tether point (tool loop, holster D-ring, or wrist anchor). Never attach to a power cable, trigger guard, or moulded handgrip.

Step 3: Rotate the Quick Clip 90 degrees to its swivel position. Pull the thumb bar downward to open the clip jaw.

Step 4: Place the open clip over the tether or anchor point and release the thumb bar. The connector locks automatically on release.

Step 5: Tug the lanyard gently at both ends to confirm both connectors are fully seated and locked before beginning work.

Step 6: After use, detach from both anchor points, inspect for wear, and store away from direct sunlight, heat, and chemicals.

Common mistakes

• Attaching to an unrated point on the tool: a power cable, trigger guard, or moulded grip is not a load-rated anchor. Use a purpose-designed tool loop, holster D-ring, or wrist anchor rated to at least 5kg.

• Tethering tools that exceed the 5kg rated capacity: confirm the tool's static weight before selecting this lanyard. Heavier tools need a higher-rated lanyard from the NLG range.

• Skipping the tug test after attachment: a Quick Clip that hasn't fully engaged will open under the first load event. Both ends must be confirmed locked before the operative begins the task.

• Returning the lanyard to service after it has arrested a drop: any lanyard subjected to a sudden dynamic load should be removed and inspected by a competent person before reuse, regardless of how it appears visually.

• Treating contrast stitching damage as cosmetic: frayed or broken stitching indicates webbing wear below the surface. A lanyard showing stitching damage should be retired from service, not returned to the bag.

Safety

Certified to NS 9611:2022+AC with a 2:1 dynamic safety factor. Rated to a maximum of 5kg (11lbs). This is a tool retention lanyard only. It must not be used as a personal fall arrest system, fall restraint, or work positioning device under any circumstances. After any drop event where the lanyard has caught a falling tool, remove from service and arrange a formal inspection by a competent person before any further use. Maintain inspection records against the lanyard's unique serial number as part of a site dropped object management plan.

Maintenance

Wipe down with a damp cloth after exposure to concrete dust, mud, or salt spray and allow to air dry away from direct heat. Do not immerse in chemical solutions or expose to solvents, acids, or bleach. Store away from sunlight and heat sources. Before each shift, use the contrast stitching as your primary reference: fraying, breakage, or missing sections in any stretch of webbing are grounds for retirement. Both Quick Clip connectors should open, lock, and rotate freely. Formal inspections should be recorded against the serial number at intervals appropriate to the site conditions and frequency of use.
