Tethering a rechargeable drill at height has historically required a compromise: either untether the drill when the battery runs flat (creating a momentarily unsecured 3kg power tool at height) or send the operative back to ground level for each battery change (losing time and productivity across every shift). The NLG Drill Harness is a patented solution that eliminates that compromise. The TriLock Velcro harness wraps securely around the drill handle while the battery pack slots into the ArmourPlate base below. The tether D-ring is on the harness, not the battery. When the battery runs flat, the operative slides it out of the base, replaces it, and slides the fresh pack in, the harness and all tether connections remain on the drill throughout. Certified to ANSI/ISEA 121-2023, NS 9611:2022+AC, CE and UKCA, dynamically load tested at a 2:1 safety factor, and rated to 3kg.

Why battery changes are the defining problem in rechargeable drill tethering

A compact lithium-ion battery pack can sustain 20 to 30 minutes of continuous drilling before depletion, meaning a full shift at height on a construction or maintenance project involves multiple battery changes per operative per day. Every standard tether method, a strap around the handle, an adhesive D-ring, a wrist lanyard, attaches to a fixed point on the drill body. Changing the battery with any of these in place requires detaching the tether first, which leaves the drill unsecured at height, and then re-attaching it after the change. How to use

Step 1: Inspect the harness before every use. Check the TriLock Velcro bands for damage or loss of grip. Check the ArmourPlate base for cracks or deformation. Check the D-ring for deformation. Retire from service if any defect is found.

Step 2: Open the TriLock Velcro closure by peeling back all three bands. Slide the battery pack into the ArmourPlate base from below.

Step 3: Position the harness around the drill handle above the battery section. Close the inner Velcro band in one direction around the handle, then the middle band in the opposite direction over the first, then the outer band in the opposite direction again over the second. Press all three firmly into full engagement.

Step 4: Check the drill harness is fitted securely to the drill by applying firm hand pressure and confirming there is no movement or rotation.

Step 5: Attach the tool lanyard to the rear D-ring. Confirm the connector is fully engaged before beginning work at height.
